Brocks Hill has a high quality Science curriculum that is enhanced by high quality teaching. This combination allows all children to succeed.

We link learning in Science to our cross curricular topics, where appropriate, to create a meaningful experience for all the children. In addition to discreet standalone sessions, we have themed science weeks. We aim to teach exciting lessons that instil a sense of wonder and use accessible, varied ways of recording our findings.

Due to our location, we are well resourced with fantastic outdoor spaces. Our pond and outdoor classroom are perfect for studying habitats and food chains. We have a healthy number of small pond larvae, up to large newts and frogs.

The woodland is ideal for mapping the seasons. We have a mixture of broad leaved and evergreen trees that provide diverse habitats for local wildlife.

The vegetable garden is a great place to explore the biology and lifecycles of plants. We have raised beds for each year group to tackle their particular plant objectives in addition to a greenhouse that enable us to grow less hardy vegetables. All of which helps bring the important subject of healthy eating to life.

Here at Brocks Hill we aspire to inspire our children. Science is a part of their everyday lives and we see our job as facilitators in their understanding of the world around them. It is vital that we create curious individuals who have the skills to ask questions and investigate the unknown.
