At Brocks Hill our aim is to inspire a love of music. We believe music is an essential part of a child’s well-being.

Music is taught as a discrete subject, but is also interwoven in to other areas of the curriculum throughout the year.

We have close links with Leicestershire Schools of Music and other music specialists to provide opportunities for lessons and performances. In year 4, all children have the opportunity to learn an instrument free of charge. Also we can sign post pupils to specialist teachers if they wish to have individual music tuition.

Highlights of the year are our music days and talent shows, where all pupils get the opportunity to show off their talents. In addition our music ambassadors encourage students to get musical in the playground as part of our ‘Happy Lunchtimes’ initiative.

Our music curriculum is co-ordinated by Mrs Doughton.

We have weekly lessons for most year groups with Mr. Stokes, who plays lots of instruments but specialises in drumming and rhythm. Mr. Stokes also runs a Taiko drumming club.

Guitar lessons are arranged through Noise Tuition.
